The Issue

There are multiple issues affecting wildlife, but specifically affecting the Howler Monkey population. The threads include the accelerated expansion of residential areas, new infrastructure building, logging, provoked wildfires, and climate change. These factors are generating forest fragmentation and wildlife habitat loss in our country.

Animals are often forced to use electrical wiring to move around, walk on busy roads, or live very close to people in order to survive and adapt to their new surroundings. This puts them at significant risk of electrocution, disease, vehicle strikes, or getting attacked by domestic animals.

Salvemonos attended a total of 420 accidents in 2021 and 2022.
204 were electrocutions.

Our protocol allows us to act quickly and preventatively increasing the survival rate and recovery  substantially.
